NHL 2018-19 thoughts and predictions....

....and folks, as always, I implore you: No wagering.

Before I get into stuff that I think will happen, let's get right to something that we ALL KNOW is going to happen: The Vancouver Canucks are going to be awful. And I mean, like, awful to EPIC proportions. Like, 2016-17 Colorado Avalanche awful. Maybe worse.

This pleases me.

Know what else pleases me? They won't be alone. The Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators will be right there with them.

This double-pleases me.

Know what else is going to please me? This.

That's right, folks, for only the second time in their history, the Dallas Stars will win the Stanley Cup.

I can HEAR your eyes rolling. "Oh here is Dean picking a team he likes to win, like always".

Think about that. When was the last time I picked a team I liked to win the Stanley Cup? It has been years. YEARS. Probably 2015 when I picked the Kings.

OK, so I picked the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl, but I was hardly alone there. As it stands right now they are 4-0, so that doesn't exactly look like a stretch.

I'm hardly alone HERE, either. Where do you think I got that picture from? A season simulation from EA19 that showed the Stars not just winning the Cup, but absolutely DOMINATING in the playoffs. Sweeping the Avalanche and Oilers, beating the Kings in 5, then sweeping the Capitals to go a remarkable 16-1 !

I am not quite predicting that level of dominance.

CONN SMYTHE TROPHY: Ben Bishop, Dallas

Please, folks. No wagering.
